Purdue Faces #7 Maryland at Mackey to Open Big Ten Play
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's basketball team opens Big Ten action on Saturday afternoon when No. 7 Maryland comes to Mackey Arena. The 2 p.m. tip will be streamed on B1G+ with Max Bury and JJ Palmer on the broadcast.

The Boilermakers returned to Mackey Arena for their fourth straight win at home, knocking off Maine 60-51. Purdue was led by Regan Bass' 20-point outing, while Destini Lombard tallied her second double-double of the year with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Down by nine in the second half, the Boilermakers held the Black Bears to 16 points on 24% shooting over the final 20 minutes.

• Facing one of the most challenging schedules in the country, the Boilermakers will go for their first ranked win since knocking off No. 2 Ohio State during the 2022-23 season. The last time Purdue defeated an AP Top-10 opponent was against No. 4 Texas A&M on Dec. 4, 2011.
• Purdue is converting 11 offensive rebounds per game into 11.2 second chance points per night. Purdue is 5-0 this year when scoring 10 or more points from offensive boards.
• The Boilermakers defense has held three of its last four opponents to 55 or fewer points. Purdue is averaging 62.8 points per game against in its five wins this season, while scoring an average of 20 points off turnover per win. The Boilermakers have three games with 10 or more steals.
• Purdue is tied for second in the Big Ten with two players averaging over 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game with Reagan Bass (13.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG) and Lana McCarthy (8.0 PPG, 6.4 RPG).
• McCarthy is one of four freshmen nationally and the only one from the Big Ten averaging 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 50% or better from the field.
• Three Boilermakers have connected on 10 or more 3-pointers with Destini Lombard and Sophie Swanson leading the team with 12 triples each, while Ella Collier has hit 10 times. The trio are tied for the most on a team in the Big Ten.
• Destini Lombard leads the team in scoring (14 PPG), assists (2.8 APG), steals (2.4 SPG) and 3-pointers. The fifth year is one of four players from the Big Ten with over 100 points, 45 rebounds, 20 assists and 15 steals on the year.
• Reagan Bass turned in her third 20-point performance of the year against Maine, tying her for fifth most by a Boilermaker in the last four seasons.
• Amiyah Reynolds made her first career start against Maine. The redshirt freshman finished with a game-high plus-minus of +15, while turning it over just once in 27 minutes of action. Reynolds made her Purdue debut in the season opener against Purdue Fort Wayne after missing last season due to injury.
• The seven active newcomers have powered the Boilermakers' production this year with 77% of the points, 86% of rebounds, 63% of assists. All six of Purdue's double-doubles have been recorded by a player in their first year on the court at Purdue.
• Purdue will play nine games scheduled against teams in the preseason AP Top-25 rankings and is the only team in the nation that will face four teams in the top six of the preseason Top-25.
